Symposium on ‘Technological Innovations using AI, ML and IoT’
07-Sep-2018
About the event
The symposium on 'Technical Innovation using AI, ML, IoT' is jointly organised by 'Innovation Hub, Regional Science Centre & Planetarium, Calicut' and 'The Institution of Electronic and Telecommunication Engineers - Sub Centre, Kozhikode'. The symposium will consist of Invited Talks by Experts, Project presentation contest, Poster presentation contest. The contests are open to students of institutions pursuing Post graduate (MCA/ M Sc - CS)/ Undergraduate (B Tech/ BCA)/ other courses (Diploma) in the field of Computer Science & Engineering, Computer Applications and Electronics Engineering.
Topics of Symposium:
Ø Artificial intelligence (AI) is a branch of computer science that aims to create intelligent machines. It has become an essential part of the technology industry.
Ø Machine learning (ML) is the science of getting computers to act without being explicitly programmed. It is a category of algorithm that allows software applications to become more accurate in predicting outcomes without being explicitly programmed. The basic premise of machine learning is to build algorithms that can receive input data and use statistical analysis to predict an output while updating outputs as new data becomes available.
Ø Internet of Things (IoT) is an ecosystem of connected physical objects that are accessible through the internet. The ‘thing’ in IoT could be objects that have been assigned an IP address and have the ability to collect and transfer data over a network without manual assistance or intervention. The embedded technology in the objects helps them to interact with internal states or the external environment, which in turn affects the decisions taken.

Organisers
Regional Science Centre & Planetarium, Calicut functioning under NCSM (Govt. of India) shoulders the leading role in propelling science dissemination activities in Kerala, especially in the Malabar region. The ‘Innovation Hub’ provides a platform to our youth to engage in innovative and creative activities. The underlying idea is to promote scientific and critical thinking and problem solving ability through hands-on activities. A laboratory equipped with moderate set of tools and scientific instruments has been setup in the Centre. This facility will be available to the registered members and will be open for students, teachers and Institution on nominal payment basis. It will be an endeavour to incubate the best ideas. Any student or public can become member of this hub. For more information on the innovation hub, visit www. http://rscpcalicut.org/innovation.html
